This model belongs to the Kickstarter project –The Fall of the House of Usher–
The Fall of the House of Usher, inspired by the real building Woodruff-Fontaine House and by the Roger Corman’s Movie. The movie has served as inspiration for the characters and the crypt, but there was no real mansion, just a painted set with a house that I did not find attractive enough.
How to find a majestic and disturbing building, suitable for this gothic horror novel…?
—I checked my list of houses, but none seemed appropriate, some were made of wood, others were too modern or with unsuitable styles… Looking for inspiration on the internet I found a wonderful building: The Woodruff-Fontaine home Museum. A tall and imposing 19th century Victorian house that I fell in love with. After gathering all the existing graphic documentation of the house I decided to design it as close to reality as possible.—
The Woodruff-Fontaine house is included in the National Register of Historic Places under the title “Lee and Fontaine Houses of the James Lee Memorial”. The Woodruff-Fontaine House was designed by architects Edward Culliatt Jones and Matthias H. Baldwin. Completed in 1871 on Adams Avenue, which was once known as “Millionaire’s Row” in Memphis, Tennessee.
